Power Engineer

The Power Engineer is responsible for monitoring the Rover's power generation and consumption - the power budget.

The Rover's electrical power is generated by solar panels and RTG, and stored in batteries. Lean more about the Rover's Power generation, and the potential effects of the Mars environment - including dust storms and dust-devils.

The first priority of the energy budget is to keep the Rover's components at optimal working temperatures (~20 degrees C). Driving and the deployment of scientific instruments also require electrical power.

As necessary, work with the Navigation and Robotics Engineers to manage the power budget. It may be necessary to negotiate the selection of scientific instrument/s with the Science Team.
